Fang Qiong

Fang Qiong is a renowned vocalist and professor. She now serves as the Director of the Voice and Opera Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (SHCM), the Vice President of the National Vocality and Art Institution of China, and Director of the Vocal Music Professional Committee of the Shanghai Musician Association. She is appointed as a visiting professor at over 20 conservatories in China.


Fang graduated at the Voice and Opera Department of SHCM under the tutelage of Professors Zheng Ti and Zhou Xiaoyan. In 2000, she went to the US as a government-sponsored scholar to study at the Music College of University of Maryland. She is winner for several significant award, including the first prize in the 7th National Young Singers Awards Competition, ‘Model Individual for National Unity’ awarded by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Shanghai Model Worker, the Shanghai Yucai Award for Educationalist, and Baogang Education Foundation Award.


Fang has frequently served as a jury member for numerous state-level vocal competitions, including the Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music and the National Young Singers Awards Competition. She has successfully held nearly 40 solo concerts at prestigious venues such as the Shanghai Grand Theatre, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Beijing Concert Hall, Poly Theatre, Xi'an Concert Hall, Guangzhou Opera House and the districts of Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan, as well as across the USA, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore. The "New Dreams on the Sea" Fang Qiong Solo Concert series has toured more than 30 major cities in China and in Southeast Asia. Additionally, the "Chang Xiang Zhi" concert series featuring classical poetry songs—a project supported by China National Arts Fund—has been performed 25 times.

Having taught at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (SHCM) for over 20 years, Fang has achieved outstanding results in teaching. Her students have frequently won prizes in state-level competitions, including the National Young Singers Awards Competition and the Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music.
