Shaanxi National Orchestra

In 2022, the Shaanxi National Orchestra was incorporated under the umbrella of the Shaanxi Tourism Group. It shares members with the Shaanxi Broadcasting National Traditional Orchestra while maintaining different titles. On 18 March
2024, the Orchestra relocated to ‘Silk Road Joy World’ in Xi’an.

The Shaanxi National Orchestra comprises 59 professional musicians and has four major training bases in Xi’an, including in Sihai and Qujiang. Under its banner “Heritage, Innovation and Integration”, the Orchestra has commissioned and

performed a wide range of works that provide a new perspective on Shaanxi’s musical heritage, including Morning Star Lilies Forever, The Rhymes of Qin, Lead Navigators of China and Jianghu Dreams.

As a member of the Shaanxi Tourism Group, the Shaanxi National Orchestra is able to access a wealth of resources to raise awareness of Shaanxi’s musical traditions, both through performances and educational activities. In addition to traditional
heritage, the Orchestra also embraces innovative approaches, such as combining traditional Chinese music with other musical styles from across the world. The Orchestra invented a new cross-border integration model of “Culture and Tourism PLUS Ethnic Music”, thus created a new scene for ethnic music appreciation. The Orchestra aims to tell the story and show the charm of Shaanxi, showcase the beauty of its ethnic music and culture, and create the ethnic music brand with Shaanxi characteristics.

In the future, the Shaanxi National Orchestra will continue to work with musicians across the industry to showcase Shaanxi’s musical heritage, connect past and present, build bridges between East and West, compose harmonious pieces among people, nature and the world.
